Italy's Padoa-Schioppa says World Cup victory to positively impact economy

MILAN (AFX) - Italy's World Cup victory on Sunday will have a positive impact on the Italian economy, but the phenomenon is impossible to quantify, said Economy Minister Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa.

Speaking after a meeting of EU finance ministers in Brussels, Padoa-Schioppa said the victory will boost the country's image abroad and increase domestic confidence, but also prove that Italy can reach 'ambitious' objectives, the news agency Radiocor reported.
