Fifa lawyers take on 2010 'pirate marketing'

Lawyers representing Fifa have barred about 20 entrepreneurs across the country, from using the 2010 as a name or part of the name for their businesses.
This includes businesses that have used the 2010 as a name or part of the name long before South Africa won the 2010 World Cup, and most of such organisations are in Gauteng.
Businesses will also not be allowed to use 2010 six months after the end of the World Cup.
"So far it has not been necessary to take people to court. Most of them are in Gauteng although they are not limited to this province," said Dr Owen Dean, an attorney at Spoor & Fisher, which specialises in intellectual property.
